Summer event 24 Scrapbook

Summer 24 saw us hold a creative activity week.

12 young people joined us over the course of the week, looking at graphic design, fonts, layout, colours, imagery, photography and filming.

We had a great time, and are pleased to present a scrap-book of what we got up to. Enjoy 😃

NEWSPAPER NAMES

As part of our looking at different fonts and their uses, the young people had to find the letters making up their names and arrange them.

SINGLE COVER LAYOUT CHALLENGE

We looked at fonts and how the style of a font can be used to create a meaning and atmosphere in design work. We also looked at principles of layout, including hierarchy and spacing. The young people were then given a random square image and had to create arecord cover sleeve. They were provided with a choice of artist names and song titles printed out in various fonts and sizes, which they needed to combine with their image to create the final sleeve design.

I enjoyed taking the photos.
I had fun!

INTRODUCTION TO FILMING

We did a session on filming an interview. Taking turns to be sound engineer, camera operator, interviewer and subject. A lot of fun was had and we shared our answers to the questions ‘What does creativity mean to you?’. Check out our fun little video below:

THE POSTCARDS!

We created postcards with the young people choosing to create something around a theme that was important to them.

Main themes were around nature or the environment, and identity/diversity.

We are so pleased with the amazing artwork created. The postcards were then professionally printed and are now available to be given out at events or clubs.
