Schools

At Starting Point, we support schools through our Alternative Provision offering.

Starting Point Studio Alternative Provision (AP) for Years 7–11, is co-designed by young people and co-led by expert practitioners – providing young people with the tools and confidence to feel positive about their futures.

Our AP offering is embedded in our relational, tailored, and holistic approach to mentoring. Supporting young people to:

  • Grow in self-esteem
  • Learn skills for their future
  • Take ownership of projects
  • Develop positive peer relationships
  • Manage their emotions
  • Reintegrate back into education

A place to express themselves, we often work on real-world projects, commissioned by local partners, that provide a platform for the pupils to have their voice heard on issues that affect them. A fun and enjoyable atmosphere in a small group, with plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with photography, film and design.

AQA Unit Awards

We are now registered as an AQA Unit Award provider. Pupils on our AP programme have the opportunity to earn AQA Unit Awards as part of their time on the projects with us.

Where is our AP held?
We run our AP sessions from our offices on Sackville St, or The Greyfriars centre (just behind). One morning a week, during term time.
We can come to you!
We also have the option of doing AP at your school, or also running a short project based in your school. Contact us for more information. For more information, and to book students onto AP, please contact us.
“It has been good to share my opinions on school. AP allows me to be myself.”

“It was easy for me to create something that looked good.”
