After School creative clubs

We recently had the opportunity to lead some after school clubs in the Whitley area.

We were invited to host a film club in Ridgeway Primary School, and Hartland High Secondary School. We also held a graphic design club in Hartland too.

Film Trailers

An exercise using a music clip to inspire a short trailer – what genre of film does this sound like it should be?

We have an Action trailer from the Ridgeway Primary group. At Hartland they created a trailer for a comedy Spy film, and a short Gangster clip.

++ Warning – trailers contain violence

Suspense short film

A short film from the Hartland High group, employing the tricks that make something feel suspenseful.

Notice the use of camera angles, framing, music and sound to create the atmosphere.

Hartland High Final film – SPY!

Taking all the new skills learnt, the group took the comedy spy film idea and developed the story further.

Ridgeway Primary Final film 01 – A Weird Sock Disaster

A girl has a tough day at school. What will she do?

++ Contains intense scenes

Ridgeway Primary Final film 02 – Kung-Fu Redemption

A young man gets kicked out of his house by his father. Can he win his favour and respect back?

++ Contains violence

Ridgeway Primary Final film 03 – The Jewel Thief

A criminal dares to steal the priceless jewel. Will he succeed?

++ Contains violence

GRAPHICS CLUB

At the graphics club, we explored branding.
Why brand use colours and fonts to create meaning, plus logo design.
Each pupil created their own brand, choosing their brand values, fonts, colours and designing a brand logo.

Alongside creating some fantastic outputs, we also were able to work with the pupils to enable them to gain some AQA Unit Awards, with 16 Unit Awards achieved by the Pupils from Hartland High.

A massive thank you to Reading Borough Council for commissioning this project, and the pupils, and the schools for giving us this opportunity to do these clubs.
